A word from Maestro Louis Lavigueur, C.Q.

It was the year of the Montreal Olympic Games when Sandra Wilson set forth to give the City a Symphony Youth Orchestra, an almost common institution in American and British cities. Little did she know at the time how MYSO would become a major actor in Montreal’s educational and cultural web.

Thanks to thousands of gifted young musicians, tens of devoted volunteers and quite a few inspiring professional musicians and conductors, MYSO has demonstrated its youthful energy and style here at home and on stages worldwide from Britain, France, Belgium, Germany, China and the USA.

One of its trademarks is to perform only world premieres of works by…..Beethoven, Berlioz, Debussy, Mahler, Stravinsky, Verdi, etc members of the orchestra playing these pieces for the first time of their lives to the delight of astonished audiences.

Like its host city, MYSO is thriving and bustling and eager to engage in even more musical adventures.

Happy 40th!
